Mattia graduated from the Universit\u00e0 degli Studi di Urbino \u201cCarlo Bo\u2019\u201d with a <em>laurea<\/em>\u00a0(Italian undergraduate degree)\u00a0in\u00a0Clinical\u00a0<wbr \/>Psychology.\u00a0Mattia and Rebecca met during the only summer that Mattia stayed in Urbino, as he was\u00a0completing a social work internship.\u00a0 He moved to the United States in 2007 to live with Rebecca and pursue his graduate studies.\u00a0 Mattia obtained a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology at Framingham State University in 2013 and\u00a0recently became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.<\/p>\n<div>Mattia has had clinical experience in the fields of substance abuse, parenting skills development,\u00a0refugee, unaccompanied, and special-needs children, trauma, foster care and adoption as well as individual and family counseling.<\/div>\n<div>Mattia believes that his academic and professional background around child development and care, his support at the Piccola Italia Preschool since its origins, and of course his Italian cultural heritage will make him a\u00a0<i>bravo Maestro<\/i>\u00a0at PIP!<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Although he is much further away from his family than he wishes, Mattia believes that\u00a0attachment and a familial, nurturing environment\u00a0contribute greatly\u00a0to the development and maintenance\u00a0of a healthy life. As an Italian, Mattia values the importance of good food, gestures,\u00a0and&#8230;<i>calcio!\u00a0<\/i>and he\u00a0is passionate about all that he does.<\/div>\n<div>Mattia is happy to extend his involvement at PIP with the role of Assistant\u00a0<i>Maestro<\/i>\u00a0to complement Rebecca&#8217;s lead and he\u00a0looks forward to speaking Italian\u00a0(with all necessary gestures) to your children!<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maestro Mattia was born in Lanciano, Italy in the region of Abruzzo.
