Mattia Cianfrone was born in Lanciano, Italy in the region of Abruzzo. Mattia graduated from the Università degli Studi di Urbino “Carlo Bo’” with a laurea (Italian undergraduate degree) in Clinical Psychology. Mattia and Rebecca met during the only summer that Mattia stayed in Urbino, as he was completing a social work internship. He moved to the United States in 2007 to live with Rebecca and pursue his graduate studies. Mattia obtained a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology at Framingham State University in 2013 and recently became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Mattia has had clinical experience in the fields of substance abuse, parenting skills development, refugee, unaccompanied, and special-needs children, trauma, foster care and adoption as well as individual and family counseling.
Mattia believes that his academic and professional background around child development and care, his support at the Piccola Italia Preschool since its origins, and of course his Italian cultural heritage will make him a bravo Maestro at PIP!
Although he is much further away from his family than he wishes, Mattia believes that attachment and a familial, nurturing environment contribute greatly to the development and maintenance of a healthy life. As an Italian, Mattia values the importance of good food, gestures, and…calcio! and he is passionate about all that he does.
Mattia is happy to extend his involvement at PIP with the role of Assistant Maestro to complement Rebecca’s lead and he looks forward to speaking Italian (with all necessary gestures) to your children!
